Tipsy Mercer is a small bar that had four other customers who were all drinking cocktails during a recent midweek evening visit. The small curved L-shaped bar counter supports three premium keg products, I went for half a Yabba Dabba Doo for £2.50. The was some background music playing and I didn’t venture upstairs, in fact I’m not sure it was even open up there. The service was polite, but I didn’t see the attraction so won’t be returning.

A new bar opened in April 2019 almost opposite The Narrows on premises which formerly housed a bookmakers. A free house, this had five keg pumps including two locals - Tap Social's Good Size, Eh? and Little Ox's Yabba Dabba Doo. A large space downstairs, this also has an upstairs which includes a baby grand piano as well as a view of The Narrows and The Old Chemist. Good but not great.
