Something a little different in the GBG recommendations for this part of the country. A nice little micro - unusually, with some comfy seating. Pleasant owner and his dog, Bella a gorgeous Golden Retriever. Lots of keg and a couple of cask - craving something different, I went for some Keg IPAs and Pales from Neon Raptor and Pollys. Nice selection of welsh bottles for takeaway - which I will export to the west midlands

They have a deal with the kitchen/takeaway over the road - so you can order food to be delivered from there. Dressed crab, sourdough and fine craft beer, make for a decent lunch!

My cask was just about drinkable. Large selection of keg which seems to be the recommendation in Aber now. There's a beer patio on the partitioned road out front - avoid falling bits of roof and seagull droppings.

They either need better cellar/line cooling in here or they simply can’t shift the cask, my Salopian was a bit warm (NBSS 2). Serves a niche in Aber but I wonder how long the cask will last as part of the offering.

August 2021
A newish opener in Aber, a small bar in the middle of a fairly quiet and semi-residential street connecting two rather larger commercial thoroughfares. There’s a small main drinking room at the front with armchairs and the like, a main bar area made-over in the modern style in the middle, a further high stool/bench drinking area (an extension on the back of the original dwelling) and then a teeny rear courtyard with very small tables. Craft is king here though there were a couple of ales on the go, Electro Brewing Sesh (NBSS 2.5) and Thornbridge Brock (3) with a faint feel of them not really shifting. Also sampled keg stuff from Geipel (Lager), Dog’s Window (Dog Days). Also asked for a bottle of Hafod Dubbel which despite being listed very much confused the staff. It came, eventually, at room temperature, which was disappointing. Overall not bad given the COVID context though the warm bottle at the end was a bit of a let-down. I’d give it another go. 6.5
