Large, traditional Edwardian pub by side of main road with bar one side and lounge the other; garden and skittle alley, also used for functions, at rear. A couple of good ales from the barrel but it is the food that takes the pub up a level, with enormous portions of very tasty fare. Good range of entertainments at intervals too. A proper pub.

A two roomer with the main action in the right hand side. Multicoloured pub carpet, burnt orange fabric banquettes, whisky mirrors, darts, fireplace and a collection of phalluses (don’t ask me why) hanging up at the bar. A number of locals were playing dominoes but despite the outward gentility, there was a fairly robust atmosphere with the full cornucopia of cuss-words getting a liberal airing. Two ales from gravity - Exmoor Gold (fine) and Hobgoblin Gold - as well as two boxes of cider in Westons and Hogans. Felt a bit out-of-place here, like we were intruding on a private party. Best left to the locals and their particular idiosyncrasies. 5.5

A large corner pub, with white painted brick and red paintwork. It had a black painted timber framed porch.

The interior had two room. I didnt see the lounge. The bar was small; it had white walls, with a stone fireplace, a Tv, with boxing on, and other ephemera. There was a younger crowd in the corner, watching the fight and nobody else was in. Service was ok i guess.

Beer; tap stuff with Otter Ale on handpull, which was fine. There was also Spitfire on, which i wouldnt touch.

A pub with nothing really to attract me, i cant see myself wanting to go back.

Great pub,
Popular menu and a friendly atmosphere. Ideal accommodation for anyone wishing to explore the Jurassic Coast, Dartmoor, the Cathedral city of Exeter, Crealy Park, Nigel Mansell's World Of Racing Museum and Woodbury Park Golf and CountryClub.
