It's a bit of a trek to get to Temperance Street (formerly the home of Beer Nouveau), as despite being on the same street as the Alphabet Brewing Co, there's a busy road to traverse, which involves a walk off North Western Street and up to a set of traffic lights.

Despite it being a bit out of the way, this was my favourite of the breweries and bars to the east of Piccadilly station, probably helped by the fact that they had both 3 cask ales and a real cider. Real ales on handpull were Steelfish Long Step, Beer Nouveau Peterloo & Thirst Class Sweet Mild O'Mine. The real cider was Temperance Street Yarlington & Ellis, whilst they also had a sparkling Home Farm Blend using apples donated from local trees. Craft beers from Temperance were Can't Rain All The Time, Desert Island Discotheque & Last Exit To Blackpool. An addition guest was Pandemonium Bamboozled. A CAMRA discount is offered.

The indoor seating area is much smaller than it was previously. Although, there was a nice comfortable sofa to sink into, which was very difficult to get up from, especially after the mild and the ciders. Additional seating is offered outdoors in a small area across the road from the brewery. We were warned by the friendly owner and staff that it does get a bit muddy.

Apparently the owner of Beer Nouveau has given up the site, seemingly having become a bit disillusioned after Covid. However, the new owners are keen to make a go of it despite people keep entering it as "closed" on Google! My advice would be to give this place a try. It is worth the effort to get here.

It's a bit of a trek from civilisation, but not too far from Alphabet so it's worth doing the two together if you're having a bit of a crawl. Very COVID safe and has a covered outdoor seating area opposite, as well as retaining seating indoors. All orders are done via their web site and then brought to your table. The owner seems a nice chap and even let us have a sample of some new 8% lager he was brewing when he brought our drinks order over. Just one cask beer and a handful of keg options at the time of my visit. Beer Nouveau can be a bit experimental and often recreate historical or vintage recipes, so you get something a bit out of the ordinary here. Of the two drinks we stayed for, one was a bit strange and the other was very decent. Reduced opening hours at the moment but they are open on Fridays and Saturdays - check times beforehand.

This is a brew bar in a railway arch at the crappy end of North Western Street in Ardwick. You really wouldn't want to be walking around here on your own at night. It's fairly basic as you might expect with beer aging in barrels to the left, there's also a well used table football and a few bits of seating. Almost everyone in here on a Friday early evening was half my age or less. There are 4 handpumps and 4 kegs plus a real cider. I personally think Beer Nouveau brew very poor beer. However the collaboration beer with Toast brewery was OK and in good nick. Can't think of any reason why I'd want to walk out here again.
