Will Larter left this review about Brewer & Hop

As someone pointed out while I was here, it's like being in someone's front room. Well, yes, in that it's a small room in a house and has a bay window that looks out onto a patch of grass, with trees, walls and bushes but no, in that there's a whacking great bar counter with three hand pumps and three keg fonts, a large blackboard on one wall listing various craft beers for sale in bottles and cans, a lean-to extension to one side with numerous bottles of spirits on shelves, and not to mention a good dozen or more people who seem to have turned up uninvited. So more like a pub then.

I received a friendly and enthusiastic welcome from behind the counter, and made my choice from just two real ales, one having just gone off (a fate that had also befallen one of the three keg beers). My half of Little Critters C-Monster IPA 6.5% was very good, as are all the beers I've had from this local brewery.

I found myself a seat at a table that had been fashioned from a redundant beer keg (painted blue) and indulged in a bit of people watching. As I did so, I noticed how the volume of the various conversations rose as more people came in - they could really do with some soft furnishing in this pub, some curtains or cushions or (as I saw in a micro in Kent recently) a load of umbrellas suspended from the ceiling to deaden the noise. Apart from that (and I imagine that at busy times more people will drift out to the garden benches - though not after 10.30pm according to a notice on the wall) this was a very pleasant micropub, with ad hoc and eclectic furniture, and people to match.
