Reopened in December 2018 after a period of closure during which the pub was completely renovated. There is a car park at the side, which leads to some chalets available for B&B. There is a paved seating area at the front. Inside, the main bar is formed from conjoining three front rooms, and there is a small dining room off this bar. There is a larger restaurant area at the rear. The main bar is stone-tiled and has large fireplaces with woodburners at both ends. Although everything is new, it feels cosy and convivial. The young staff were friendly and professional, and the background music was actually quite fitting. There is a specials board which is on the high side of average pricing, while the a la carte menu consists of good quality pub standards and is reasonable value. An excellent revived village pub and a really good place to stop for lunch or an evening meal if passing. It’s on the 2019 Somerset Ale Trail.
