Real Ale Ray left this review about The Vicarage

This former vicarage/Hotel looked promising on arrival and mentions on Whatpub that they have Storm Brewery beer on handpump. The interior was upmarket with original exposed timber beams, flagstone floors, wood panelling, along with a large ornate bar and fireplaces. A large private lounge area with a large wall mounted TV. A good sized conservatory and further private looking dining area in the older part of the building.
Once at the bar I asked for a stone brewery beer, but unfortunately the miserable and unwelcoming young barman didn't know what I was talking about. The two unbadged pumps were only offering TT landlord, which once served was well past its best.
He did however go down to the cellar to change the cask, but this was taking forever and instead of using a bucket to pull the beer through he was using a pint glass. When I thought he was ready, he was on his way back down to the cellar again. Still waiting endlessly and on a time restraint we asked for our money back, which made things worse as the surly manageress took great umbrage towards us. Not a place I'd return to.
