I finally found this micro open after trying for some time. It seems they’ve had their ups and downs, but even now I’m labouring under the misapprehension that ovine aviation involves predictable timings; we customers are very dim – once we get an idea in our heads, there’s no shifting it. However, having managed accidentally to arrive when it was open I found a superb micropub with great ale and a warm welcome from the landlord and two locals. Water was provided for the dog, who gained a tendency to hop around on her hind legs, while the ale was not only the best I had all week, but the cheapest. The single small room has a tiny servery in the corner and a few tables and chairs, mainly improvised. The conversation was witty and inclusive with hardly any Monty Python references. There were 4 taps, but only two ales on, Tanner’s Box of Frogs and Norwegian Blue from Parkway, so hardly local, but both in excellent condition. There was also a cider. I’d be happy to chance it again if passing through Sheerness and I’d definitely include on a crawl. It’s not so good that I’d go out of my way to make it a regular haunt, but think of the enormous commercial possibilities if it succeeds.

Without doubt this is the best Micropub on the Island, and in surrounding areas. It is a must visit, great range of goodies behind the bar, ale, cider, gins, as well as other tantalising tipples and soft drinks for those who don't drink, like me. You will not get a warmer reception and I guarantee you will never walk out of the door without making new friends. No mobile phones, no background music, just great drinks in a wonderfully relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Add it to your list, you won't be disappointed! Dogs are welcome and I have seen every effort being made to accommodate disabilities.
