A brewpub in a shop conversion with a front seating area infront of french windows with bench seating accompanied by small stools. No food is served but helpfully local takeaway menus are provided and you can bring this food in to eat. There is a long bar with 6 handpumps and a keg gantry with 12 taps, while opposite behind a window is the brewing kit.The gents is upstairs, where there is a small bar and a performance area for live music, which occurs some Fridays and most Saturdays. There was a very good soundtrack playing 70's and 80's classics and I assume the brewer and his wife serve behind the bar.
On my visit there were three Mart's brews,Early Bird,Bonus Ball (6% fruity IPA,a bit crude) and Dutch Letters (marzipan stout missing the marzipan but a decent strong stout).A flight of thirds was available for £3 where as my two halves were a little over £3.
The other real ales were Ossett Yorkshire Blonde,Retro Beer The Real Slim Hazy together with a real cider. Not all the keg taps were operating and the list showed 10 options, six of which were continental beers and 6 brewed in the UK from the likes of Kernel,Magic Rock and Marble (Jonas Stout).
If you like Mart's brewing you will like this pub,and it should be visited on any crawl but from what I found this could well be no more than a one pint stop.

This place looks like a shop conversion and consists of a decent size rectangular room with the bar along the right and the microbrewery in a room on the left. The seating consists of mostly chunky wooden tables and low stools although there are a couple of old sherry casks that make tall tables. There's another room upstairs that I didn't look into. There was no sign of any TVs or fruit machines but there was a sound sytem playing a Tom Petty compilation.
The bar has eight hand pumps which had three unused leaving Mart's Early Bird, Nethergate Stour Valley Gold, Muirhouse Tick Tock, Severn Brewing Ruby Beer and Springfield Sweet Lips. I went for the Early Bird (£3.00 discounted) and the Sweet Lips (£3.30) discounted. The Early Bird was slightly hazy but fine apart from that and the Sweet Lips was good. I decided to push the boat out by going for the keg Northern Monk Heathen (£6.20) but caught the end of the keg so got a free half. Spurred on by that I went for the Mart's Float On (£5.00) which was a 6.2% hop bomb. I thought this was a great place and is probably the best beer option in Hanley. It gets a strong 8.

A smashing little place. Real ale wise this is much better than BottleCraft up the road. 8 handpulls dispensing two of their own Marts beers, Manning 12th Man, Front Row Collapsed, Heavy Industry Smoked Porter, Lincoln Green Hood and two real ciders. 16 taps for lager-a-likes also. Single room (though there may be an upstairs part as there are a set of stairs as you enter). Their brewing equipment is opposite the bar. Outside pavement seating available. I liked it.
