Will Larter left this review about 80 Days Bier Haus

An interesting building, where it seems that some effort and skill has been expended in not quite stripping all the paint off the woodwork, leaving patterns on every surface. The overall effect is stark, or startling, or some combination of those: starkling? Anyway, add to that the large and as far as I could see original painting of what I assume was a New York street scene, an eclectic collection of furniture and an ear-perking soundtrack, this was an interesting experience before I'd even got as far as the bar. Just keg fonts: four of them, though one had a cloth draped over it as soon as I asked about it. There was Orval 8% and another beer at the upper end of the alcohol spectrum, which left me with a 5% lager if I didn't want to start dropping off when attending the rugby later in the evening. The Berliner Pilsner was cold and fizzy, but I was regretting passing the Orval, and with time to peruse the blackboard while drinking my beer, the list of bottles and cans got me almost salivating retrospectively. Priced from £4 to just shy of £7 for 33cl, and more for 44cl, this was an esoteric collection, most of which I hadn't heard of before. The most intriguing was called To Øl Black Malts & Body Salts 9.9%, a black coffee imperial IPA from Denmark; in the cold light of the next morning I was glad I had given this one a swerve. Maybe next time.
