Steve C left this review about The Cask Bar

Cask Bar is an open plan bar in a commercial unit at the end of a parade of shops. The five cask options were Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby, Rat Brewery’s Ratella, Bass, Black Sheep and Pineapple Dream which is from Three Acre Brewery just up the road from me in East Sussex. I went for the Ratella which was good. Craft beer is also available, as is Food, in fact most of the people in were dining, because I visited at dinner time! I made do with a battered sausage from the chippy over the road. The service was friendly and atmosphere welcoming enough, so I’d pop back in if passing.

A decent place but whether it counts as a micropub will depend on your description. Its on the large side and had the Argentina France match on the telly. Despite that it does have 6 handpulls dispensing a good variety of beer styles. Update: as of 30/6/18 there are 6 handpulls.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cask Bar

Grim 1960s shopping parade meets 21st-century pub, so turning out rather more interesting than initial appearances would suggest. Nothing very notable about the square bar area, but people are doubtless here for the beer so the focus is on the five handpumps anyway... At the end of a busy day around the town, I went for Refresher from Slater's (£3.40) rather than the Oakham Citra, Kelham Island Pale Rider, Fat Cat Milk Stout or Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild. Worth a stop if in the area.

ROB Camra left this review about The Cask Bar

A micropub housed in what looks like a 1960's estate arcade of shops. Nothing much of note or architectural interest inside although there is a small beer garden/yard at the rear, which is where we sat. 5 handpumps on the bar, all on. I fancied something light and hoppy, so I went for Oakham Citra, which was a very well kept pint. Not my favourite micro, but I was happy enough calling in here for one.

Not the first micropub to look as appealing an omnibus edition of the Jeremy Kyle Show, however, like most, it offers more than the bland 60s setting suggests. The etched glass offers a little to relieve the austere front, the square interior is decorated mostly in stone effect wallpaper. There was a TV showing the footy (silently). Old photos of the area hang on the walls. Service was very good and a few locals were in, as well as our party. Five handpulls listed below by Steve - the Fat Cat Milk Stout was very good. I would be more than happy to revisit.

Steve of N21 left this review about The Cask Bar

Not far outside the NuL inner ring road this small shop conversion micropub is located in a not very picturesque shop parade laid back off the main A52 George Street. Its yet another recent introduction to the Newcastle Under Lyme drinking scene, originally opening its doors in July 2017.
They have had a go at giving it a bit of internal character, with various chalk board areas and a large modern art beer mural on the far wall, but it’s difficult to hide the fact that it is a square shop conversion. There is a small courtyard garden area out the back which does provide an additional space to the internal square room. But it gets more interesting with the five cask ales it regularly has on, with Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild on permanently and then four others changing regularly. For our visit these were Fat Cat Brewing Milk Stout, Oakham Citra, Slaters Refresher and Kelham Island Pale Rider and my Oakham Citra was well kept.
Yes I can concur with others that it’s probably not the most pub like of the modern wave of micropubs, but I would have no objection if one of the copious amounts of hairdressers and nail bars that dominate my local shops converted itself into something looking like the Cask Bar.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Cask Bar

A fairly average and run of the mill micro pub with nothing outlandish in the way of features, apart from a large mural along the side wall depicting some barrels in a cellar. Five ales on handpump on our visit, two dark beers and three pale. I went for the Slaters Refresher, which didn't warrant a second pint.

Aqualung . left this review about The Cask Bar

This is a reasonable size micropub with mixed furnishings and a fairly modern interior. There was a TV on one wall showing something called the World Cup but with the sound off. A music track was playing.
It has a small bar counter with 5 hand pumps carrying beer as listed below.
I went for the Pale Rider which sadly wasn't very good. I suspect I caught the last one from the cask, at least I hope so as the reviews below are not critical of the beer quality.
I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt.

Yet another micro pub, this one a short walk away from the town centre in a shop conversion in a small shopping arcade below some flats. The interior is colourful with a mix of furniture including sofas and it will appeal to a wide audience including groups of women. There was a friendly ,chatty welcome from the barmaid and the 5 handpumps were drawing Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby MILD,Slaters Refresher,Kelham Island Pale Rider,Fat Cat Milk Stout and an ever reliable Oakham Citra in good nick.I thought that was a decent line up ,making this a very worthwhile stop if crawling the area with the Greyhound and Hopinn not far away.

Occupying a double shop unit that was formerly a restaurant, the Cask Bar has been open since late summer 2017. Opening at 12:30 each afternoon, it was very quiet at the time of my tea-time visit and the owner occupied me in conversation throughout my stay. I was very pleased to see Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild on the bar - it's a regular here - though perhaps it was not a wise choice for my ninth pub of the day (don't worry - only halves were drunk). Also on was Titanic Plum Porter, which the bar's owner augments with the addition of a bottle of port - he does this to every other barrel, so regulars are never sure whether they're going to get the regular beer or the spiced up one. The other three beers vary (see photo.) My only criticism of this place is that it still looks too much like a restaurant, though hopefully this will change over time.
