Moby Duck left this review about Hart House

Situated on Fleet high street almost opposite the local Spoons,It was previously an ASK restaurant although there was a pub here before that, never on this site , more than ten years ago. The restaurant theme continues on to the greater part with a large area of open plan seating, also more dining space is available upstairs, there is also a reasonable sized drinking area but not in any way pubby in feel. In addition there is a corner of the building that is a separate Coffee and cake shop/cafe that can be accessed externally or from with in the pub, I am using the term"pub" loosely here. Pre opening there was talk of four cask beers permanently on with 3 being changing "locales" including the likes of Elusive, which piqued my interest, however on my visit a couple of days after opening I found three handpumps with one active, this was Charles Wells Eagle IPA, not Locale or any good in my view, I was told of teething problems in the cellar, fair enough. I returned on a Sunday hoping for better to be confronted by three clips all reversed, It appeared there had been an official opening night on the Saturday with all cask beer free of charge and surprise surprise none was left. I settled for a pint of Camden Pale which was fine despite costing a fiver. Not the sort of place I would frequent and a poor start. Fleet is a poor town for decent pubs and this hasn't improved that situation.
