Real Ale Ray left this review about The Bard

An appropriate name, considering Shakespeare used to visit Prescot and stay at Lord Derby's Estate. The town is also constructing a local Theatre. Five ales on handpump and two ciders on our Tuesday evening visit, I went for the Cheshire Brewhouse Rockall DDH Oatmeal Pale, an excellent beer at £3 a pint. The barman was very friendly and chatty and the pub had a relaxed atmosphere, a true haven to enjoy some good beers. Their other beers were Melwood Big River, North Riding Centennial, Team Toxic Don't Talk Just Kiss, Townhouse Barney's Stout and Cheshire Brewhouse.

Old Boots left this review about The Bard

Square single room with a rear counter holding six pulls and another six kegtaps, all fairly local breweries although Thornbridge and Tigertops were represented. All casks were £3 a pint. Grey walls and laminate floor otherwise as described. Wines and spirits also sold so not quite a traditional micro but still no food, except bar snacks, or electronical junk. A couple of daft quotations painted on the wall but I did like the one pictured - a Pubs Galore outing?

Al Bundy left this review about The Bard

Situated on the bottom corner of High St this is a decent little micro. The single room is sparsely decored and the bar is on the rear wall. Seating is along the walls and front leaving a bare area in the middle. 6 handpumps on the bar with Melwood Riddle Me This?, Foxfield Inverse Pale, Black Edge Dark Mild and Melwood Stanley Gold on today. 6 taps for crafty beers are also on the wall behind the bar. Its one of the better pubs in Prescot, if not the best.
