A nice little micro with a friendly welcome, comfortable seating and a fair beer selection. A tiny room at the back boasts two tables and a piano. And just to appease those worried about toilet hoggers, they have squeezed in three unisex cubicles! Three cask ales on (from Flower Pots, Steamtown and Exmoor) and half a dozen or so craft keg. One of the better of the micros along the Shirley Road.

In this micropub / small bar, I found 2 handpumps in operation, plus a line of 10 or so keg taps. Sadly, pulling through a whole pints worth of Exmoor Pale couldn't save the beer from mediocre quality - perhaps the Cheriton Pots Bitter would have been an improvement? More likely I'd have been better off with a craft keg Siren or Tiny Rebel.

I wasn't really impressed, so I'll pass by next time.

Still pretty much as Ray found it below, there were just 3 cask beers on when I visited , beers were from Red Cat,Fine Tuned and Steamtown breweries, these were backed up with 8 craft keg beers and a good range of Cider, a couple on tap and several from the box. On this occasion I had a couple of craft offerings Vibrant Forest Picea and Koona Big Wave. The prices are decent, £4.00 a pint for Cask,£4.60 the Cider and £4.80 Craft. The basic internal layout is complimented by comfortable cusioned bench seating, there is outside seating at the front of the pub. A decent and worthy stop off point.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Clockwork

We found the staff in here to be most welcoming and the beer quality excellent. This one room micro had the bar area situated on the right hand side, with their cask ale dispensed from five handpumps positioned oddly on a wall at the end of the bar. Feature walls were painted in dark blue and the rest in grey. A collection of carriage clocks were displayed on a shelf opposite the bar and various clock parts were set in resin along the bar counter top. Another feature in here was the circular profiles cut into the ceiling, maybe another method of soaking up noise levels. Four ales on our visit, so we went for the Red Cat Pale.

A modern 'micro' beer bar specialising in cask and craft keg beer. Gin, wine and prosecco also feature.
