A bonus ball visit as I realised I wasn’t going to make my intended train. A sterilised modernised interior (grey paint, eurgh) but at least has the L shape for character and the right side retains a faint lounge feel. Football on the telly to general disinterest. Four cask, split into twos at the bar by a pillar so not easy to get an overview. Grossed, we had 3x Sharps and GK OSH. My Sharps Atlantic was very good indeed (NBSS 4) - when I finally got service over the throng. Worth a nose if you're down this way, you can’t get a cask beer this good by accident. I’d pop in again for a swift one on the way back from the Queens/Dolphin combo purely due to the ale quality. 6.5

The Navy Inn has seating to the left of the entrance behind an L-shaped bar that faces the entrance before running towards the rear. Faced by the bar to the right is a pool table area and at the rear is a seating area with banquettes. Televisions are found throughout for live football and some background music was playing from the jukebox during a recent late Monday afternoon visit. Standard and premium keg was available and three of the four hand pumps were in operation drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar, Sea Fury and Atlantic Pale Ale. In an area popular with tourists this pub still retains a local feel, which is mainly down to the friendly service.

Well placed, busy pub by the harbour and in the heart of the Barbican. White walls and black painted wood panels, the naval theme evident from the many warship photos on the walls, with one wall dedicated to Falklands war photos. Real ale choice of Bombardier or Doombar; I had an agreeable pint of the latter. There is also a pool table.

Well worth a visit. In the centre of everything, reasonable priced beer & food as well!
