Steve C left this review about Cookhouse & Pub: Lockyers Quay

The Cookhouse and Pub is located across the road from a Premier Inn and acts as the restaurant. As such I visited twice, once for a nightcap and once for breakfast. This is a harbourside pub, but there are only a few picnics outside so it doesn’t really take advantage of its location. Inside, the bar area is to the left and the larger dining area to the right. The bar, that faces the entrance, supports three handpumps, one was off and one was unused which left Sharp’s Doom Bar as the lone ale option. Standard and premium keg is also available. The bar area has a television and some background music was playing. The staff were polite, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink here again.

A rather awful McPub with only one ale on, Doombar, which was in average condition. The young staff are rather too cocky, and the clientele quite unpleasant. We didn’t try the food, but it looked greasy and unpalatable. The décor is somewhat contrived, and it just doesn’t feel homely. There is a large car park shared with other local businesses, most notably the Premier Inn complex to which this business is attached, and there is no garden as such. Only one ale on, Doombar, which was overgassed and served with a sneer. Not worth the effort.
