Only open on Friday evening and all day Saturday, the Fixed Wheel brewery and tap can be found on a small, but busy trading estate. We arrived late on a Friday afternoon to find a typical warehouse-style brewery with long tables and benches for seating inside. It had decked out quite nicely for Halloween.

The friendly barman had 4 cask ales from the brewery on offer - Chain Reaction, Through & Off, Mild Concussion & Cookie. Ciders were Lilley's Mango Cider, Farmer Jim's Rhubarb Bob & Healey's Flattler. Craft beers were Fixed Wheel Through & Off, Blackheath Stout & Pope of Dope, Nothing Bound Connecticut Pale Ale & Under The Sun Pale Ale & New Invention Honey Trap Milk Stout. In addition, they had their own fizzy cider called Mr Finn's Original House Cider.

It was pretty cold sat in a warehouse that doesn't appear to have any heating, despite the presence of all of the brewing equipment. So, we weren't about to stay too long. Whilst it's not your typical pub environment, I would recommend seeking it out.

Beer Heaven! A decent little set up here, where they open the brewing section of the brewery to the public on a Friday and Saturday. The space consists of a bar area along the left hand side wall as you enter, which had five handpumps and also a choice of 12 keg dispensed from taps behind the bar. Seating was long tables and benches. There was also a fairly large mash tun and hot water vessel along the far wall. We went for the Box Tape IPA and the Chain Reaction cask ale at £3 a pint and I also tried a half of the Mosiac on keg £2.25 a half. All the beers tried were excellent. Cobs can be purchased from the bar or you can help yourself to a choice of eight different cheeses and sliced French bread, which was complimentary. Great atmosphere from the friendly staff and fellow drinkers. Opens Friday 4pm-10pm Sat 11am-8pm.

Tap room with plenty of tables. Great selection of Fixed Wheel beers in excellent condition. An added bonus was a table of cheese and crusty bread! A nice touch.
