Will Larter left this review about The Old Workshop

An unprepossessing brick building - or two buildings thrown together - in an area of small workshops to the north of Kelham Island. It has been made over into a bar but is still clearly seen for what it was - an old workshop. On entering there is a bar to the right, but this is for food, the access to alcohol being up a couple of steps to the rear of the building. There are no real ales or hand pumps here, all beers being served from keg taps set in the bar back. On my first visit though I would have been hard pressed, on a blind tasting, to say whether I was drinking cask or keg, so I think one or two of the beers may be Key Keg. Beers are priced in a variety of glass sizes from 1/3 via 1/2 and 2/3 to a full pint.

The workshop space is split up informally into different seating areas, but there's still a semi-industrial feel to the place, with exposed brickwork, beams, ducts and RSJs galore. This is a popular venue, but I found it predictably pricey - my third of Cloudwater Belgian IPA 8% was £2.35. I've only been back once since - on my subsequent visit my beer was cold and fizzy, so maybe it's matter of pot luck - or perhaps asking the server?
