Real Ale Ray left this review about Knave & Kestrel

The owner told me he named his micro in respect for the local author Barry Hines who wrote the novel "A Kestrel for a Knave" which was made into a film in 1969. The interior of this micropub consisted of a small front room with bar and a small back room connected by a lobby. Five handpumps, with four in use on our visit. Stancill Stainless, White Rose White Lighening, Elland Nettle Thrasher, Acorn Old Moor. The owner was upbeat and chatty and my pint of Stancill was excellent, so well worth the 6pm opening time on a Thursday.
