Graham Coombs left this review about Cosy Club

A fairly typical example of its type - done up in an over the top selection from an arty designers catalogue. The walls are crimson flock groaning under the number of paintings, the furniture is Edwardian lounge, the lighting ranges from large clumps of tasseled lamps to an oversized metal thing. The back area (and upstairs when open) is tabled for diners. The ornate bar offered one Brixton IPA alongside a few trendy euro-sounding things, with no handpumps remaining. The building itself is quite splendid and with the vast windows opened back on a hot sunny day it was a very pleasant place for a drink, but I can't say I'd be likely to go back though.

Two halves to this place. The front is for drinkers and the rear for food. The bar is on the right side. Two hand pumps, not of great strength, the rest keg.

Very well described by OB below. The unusual thing about this Cosy Club is that it's at ground floor level. All the other ones I can think of are on first floors. Still serving Ainsty beers on the handpumps and my pint was in good nick. A decent addition to the thriving beer scene around here.

A rather large fancy looking place in Fossgate, at the front is an area with low sofas and tables, then to the right a long counter with three tbars, and two pulls with quite well kept Ainsty beers. A maitre d is sometimes in attendance. Moving back through the room, there's a high table , some more sofas then an expanse of dining area. The decor is close coupled fake oil paintings and prints including up the back passage to the lavatories. There's a mezzanine floor as well with tables & chairs, as I said it's a big place, actually a former cinema.
