what a lovely little vaulted bar this is, well described below. The lads running the place were very friendly and I enjoyed a decent stout from the four handpumps (three ales and a cider). Sadly custom was a bit sparse on a Saturday afternoon and the relentless thudding dance music from the game arcade next door was a drawback. Not this bar’s fault, but still. It’s definitely worth a look if in Bolton but I don’t imagine staying for a session.

Cellar bar located in the vaults of a retail/entertainment development called the Market Place. The Vaults also has a number of dining outlets and there was some kind of live music going on outside.
Despite being listed in the Good Beer Guide, I wasn't particularly impressed with the real ale selection. The house beer is called Grey T'Ale and is from Deeply Vale. Two guests were Goff's Jouster & Wensleydale Black Dub, whilst the cider was Thistly Cross Whisky Cask.
Whatpub states that there is a discount on real ales for CAMRA members. Although, this is not actively promoted.
We took up a seat overlooking the passageway, which was a good spot for peoplewatching. Otherwise, there are plenty of better pubs and bars in Bolton.

Occupying 3 arches in the vaults of the newish Market Place shopping centre. Bare brick walls, as is everywhere down here. Operated by the guys who used to have Great Ale at the Market before they moved here. Four handpumps with three beers on, served by a friendly barmaid. My pint of Milestone Shine On was in good nick, but the other 2 beers available weren't very interesting. There's a 30p CAMRA discount when you show your card. Charcuterie & cheese boards are available along with pork pies. They have live music on a Sunday. It's a pleasant place.

Situated in The Market Place shopping complex. Head down the escalators and you will find a selection of bars and restaurants all occupying a load of arches. This place has, like all the units here, an open front. The pub is nicely done and there are 4 handpumps on the bar. Beers by Allgates, Milk St and The Nook breweries today (California, Zig zag Stout and Peachy Pale respectively). A nice place and I liked it.
