Five handpumps with three in use on our visit, serving Ledbury Gold, Wye Valley Bitter and one of their own beers Sociable Shindig, which was in excellent condition, a good session ale at £3 a pint. The staff were friendly and welcoming, plus some live music on our Saturday eve visit.

A brew bar tucked away in a nasty 60s building. Two rooms separated by a section that looks like it gets used as an area for performances. Grey painted brick walls and a general air of wannabe edginess which I didn’t take to. The brewery is located behind the bar in the left hand room. On my Saturday visit there were seven pumps with 5x Sociable and two guests. The Sociable Black IPA was fine (NBSS 3) another came out proper flat and its grudging replacement was not much better (NBSS 2) with staff appearing unconcerned that they were failing to showcase the entire point of the place – good quality local beer - as no effort was made to check the source of the listless liquid. Noted a keg wall with 10 on, and all the beers were displayed on an electronic board. Very reasonable prices all-round, 3 quid for their cask and 4 for keg. Overall I didn’t like the place much, though as semi-regular visitor to Worcester I imagine I will be pulled in again so hopefully a better experience awaits me sometime in the next couple of years. 5.5

Brewery Tap inside the brewery but seldom open (Thursday 5-11 & Friday 4-11 only). In the ground floor of a sixties block, possibly partly a former garage, generally L shaped with brewery and counter in the back of one arm stage and piano in the other. There’s another room with more comfortable seating and a rocking horse at the other end of the building. 6 pulls on counter with their range of cask beers, 10 keg taps to side with one Sociable beer, 2 ciders and the others from bigger and well known craft breweries Meantime, Magic Rock, Beavertown, and Tiny Rebel as well as the locals Hobsons and Deya. The Sociable beers are mainly traditional English style, not many American hops in use here and although the brewer has a beard he is over 40 and is a friendly chap who doesn’t bang on about any favourite craft hobby horses. It also has Edison bulbs, painted brick walls, a concrete floor, beers listed on a big screen and industrial fittings but still retains a middle aged vibe. Possibly the clientele and beer style gave me that feeling, or maybe it was just me as a middle aged man. Prices are reasonable £3 for cask, £4 for keg, regardless of strength, halves are half price of pints.
