A little cafe-bar-bistro effort that has spread out into three adjoining shops. Located at the end of the trendy Bishy Road area it is furnished, decorated and populated accordingly. (Slight distraction here as a couple of our transatlantic cousins just ordered drinks and departed to a table, shortly pursued by the barman who sought to explain the principles of UK bar service. And no, he didn't take them to the table!) Anyway, it can get a bit poseurish/touristy but there were a few good ales on: a mosaic and a stout from Turning Point, Helmsley Striding the Riding, and Barnsley Bitter for the traditionalists. Food is pizza and pasta, sometimes bagels, not available all day.

A multi roomed cafe bar, a counter in the first room has four pulls: today it was; Golden Pippin, a Wilde Child stout and IPAs from Anarchy and Vocation, as it was early I stuck under 4% so Copper Dragon it was. Not bad but unexceptional. It has big clear windows lined with fairy lights to see the delights of Bishopthorpe Rd, board flooring throughout, there’s even a fairy lit branch on the ceiling. Mix of seating low and medium, some nice industrial looking stools at the counter. Cast iron based tables with stools chairs and banquette seating, not much decor. Closed Mon/Tue, Opens 11am the rest of the week, card payments only, be warned the times on its website are complete bullocks. So it’s a perfectly acceptable cafe bar but naturally no pub atmosphere.

I thought the barman was the star of the show here. He really knew his beers and liked to share his passion for cask ale. He showed me the line up of their follow on ales and was looking forward to a visit to Vocation Brewery. Four handpumps with a choice of three on our visit, Bad Seed Humble Giant, Bristol Beer Factory Waimea River and Atom Schrodinger's Cat. Well worth a visit for ale choice and quality.

Decent enough place with the bar to the rear as you enter. Four hand pumps with one of a decent strength. Two further rooms to the right provide more seating. Would return here.

Very much a café but with 4 real ales. Three separate sections, all fairly busy on our Sunday afternoon visit. There's a small outside seating area next to a very busy road. I wouldn't want to be sitting there and eating, but some people were. We ended up sitting at the bar and chatting to the staff. They do take cash here, but I think we were the only ones who paid with it during the 40 minutes or so we were here. It's a pleasant enough place and we may well call in again when on the way to the Swan & the Slip as the beer was in very good nick.

Enjoyed our visit to this small bar which takes up two rooms. We chose New Bristol Joy of Sesh and Atom Schrodingers cat from the ask ales available and they were fine. Dining was in progress and the food looked fine too.
