Will Larter left this review about Booking Office (St Pancras Renaissance Hotel)

This impressive and lovely building has been rather spoilt by the supremely ugly 29-metre-long hotel bar which occupies the left hand side. A quick glance at the clientèle and the serving staff soon told me this place was not for me, but I persevered anyway. The barman tactfully failed to notice how casually I was dressed, and was happy to pour me a half of keg Harviestoun Old Engine Oil (which I have enjoyed from the bottle on several occasions - the same brewery's Bitter and Twisted was also available, but I know from visits to Edinburgh that the keg version is a pathetic shadow of the cask beer). My glass was presented to me, accompanied by a miniature bucket of dry roasted mixed nuts and a bill for £4.20. A later examination of said bill showed that this included an optional service charge, and that the actual cost of the beer was a comparatively reasonable £3.75 - for a half! The nuts were disgusting, by the way, and the beer not as good as from the bottle. This bar is clearly for people with so much money that they don't even look at their bills, or those who keep such bills as evidence for their expense accounts. For those still interested in visiting the Booking Office, simply ascend the steps at the main entrance (at the far left of the front of the station) and turn right.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Booking Office (St Pancras Renaissance Hotel)

The former dingy Midland Railway booking office of the old St Pancras station has been transformed into part of the landmark St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. Still dark inside, but this bar / restaurant is now a very grand, imposing space with a tall ceiling and tasteful, upmarket furniture and decor. The counter has been constructed in front of the dark-wood screen which used to house the ticket sales windows. Although primarily a dining establishment, there are five keg founts and a wide range of other drinks available. So not much here for a beer drinker, but well worth a visit for the experience.
