This is one of a small chain of micropubs (a contradiction in itself!), the other two being in Retford and Nottingham. Despite this it is a proper micropub where the cask ale and real cider do the talking. It's a long narrow wooden floored room with some low seating and bar stools by the small bar at the rear. The walls are brightly coloured and there is the almost obligatory collection of pump clips on the ceiling. There is a small room upstairs where the toilets also are that wasn't in use but had a dart board on the wall.
I failed to spot if they did any specialist spirits but I counted seven hand pumps which had two ciders and five ales. The five beers were two North Riding American Pale Ales, North Riding US IPA with Citra, Star Wing Gospel Oak Bitter and Lenton Lane Atlas Stout. I went for the Citra IPA (£3.70) and Atlas Stout (£3.30) both of which were in excellent condition.
One advantage of not being a one man band is that this place keeps relatively normal pub hours. I liked it and it's GBG 2018 listed.

Grantham’s micropub. Garish neon-lit exterior with an even more batty orange and blue interior with some bare brick. Upstairs room with board games and darts. There’s wall mounted TV with the beer selection. Six pumps with four ales and double clipped ciders. My Cat Asylum Oat Mild was a murky mess of a beer that was basically ullage. The Stab in the Dark Stout was better. Micropubs are all well and good but they shouldn’t fall into the trap of just selling any old crap - I suppose I should have taken it back but ultimately I couldn’t be arsed to get into a potential argument about it. The terrible mild and epilepsy-inducing colour scheme left a bad impression. 4.5

New place by the looks. Decent selection of ales but too many people were round the bar when seats were available. Would revisit.
