Immediately next door to the Rock Bar it’s more a square roomed micro rather than the usual long and thin. The counter is to the rear with five pulls; just brews from micro or small breweries, there’s also two non Camra ciders (Lilly’s) and three keg taps of not very exciting beers. Olde decor, with pub signs and posters, copper topped round tables which used to be a pub favourite, there’s also a rectangular one and some low leather armchairs. Sadly the default drinking vessel is bloody handle glasses, goes with the retro copper top tables I suppose. It has a piano in one corner and it’s a long staircase up to the toilets.

This micropub in a converted shop abutting the church was lively when we arrived, with half a dozen or more sat outside and maybe four times as many inside. A good half of whom were, like me, followers of Luton Town as well as real ale. As usual in this situation I find afterwards that I have not written any notes for a review, being too busy talking with my fellow Hatters. I do remember that the two young women behind the bar were friendly, efficient and cheerful and that the two beers that I had (Reedley Hallows New Laund Dark and Big Clock Ruby from Accrington, both local) were very good. There were three other beers on: national brand Hobgoblin plus two more fairly local (Bury and Stockport). In a town that is dominated by Thwaites, this one is a beacon of beer choice, quality and excellence.

I'm surprised to find this place has been open since 2016 - somehow it has completely escaped my attention during several visits to Blackburn. Until today!
At the bar are five hand pulls for real ale and a further two separately, one was unclipped and the other had a cider on, so assume the unclipped one would normally be a cider too.
I had a Triple Hop by Big Clock at £1.30 for a half. There were a variety of ales from different breweries but the only dark one was a mild. It would have been nice to see a stout or porter on the lineup too.
In addition to the real ales and cider the Drummers Arms also offers a more mainstream keg selection consisting of Carlsberg, Thatchers and Peroni. They also have the usual selection of spirits that you expect in most pubs, in addition to seemingly offering tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
I was in just after midday and there were a couple of older gents in.
Music was playing, so not really in keeping with a purist's definition of a micro pub perhaps, but I think it would have been a bit stale without it and it definitely added to the atmosphere rather than detracted from it, in my opinion.
On entering there is a wibbly wobbly wood effect lino floor leading from the door to the bar, with the lino continuing in front of the bar. To each side of this lino gangway there is a carpeted seating area, consisting of mainly round copper topped tables with three larger tables and a mix of seating.
Surrounding the bar is a significant amount of breweriana - old mirrors, beer pumps, signage etc, which I quite like.
Toilets are upstairs and I didn't see any sign of a disabled toilet downstairs. Other than that there is only a shallow step before the front door for a wheelchair user to negotiate and the inside is all on one level with sufficient space for a wheelchair to get to a table.
Whether this is a true micropub or whether it is really a small bar may be up for some debate but in any event it is a small friendly place that is well worth a visit. It is certainly nice to have somewhere other than the Wetherspoons in Blackburn town centre offering a decent selection of real ale.

When my mate asked me to come along to Blackburn I shuddered at the thought of having to drink in the many woeful pubs in the town centre. Knowing 90% of them are crap I didn't hold out much hope. Thankfully this place has opened since my last visit. An excellent little micro-like place and a billion times better than all the other in town. The small single room had 7 handpulls with 2 for cider. Localish beers on and a good variety of styles. By far the best place in town for beer.

Nice micropub which blows virtually everything else in Blackburn away (not that there is much). Was in a rush to catch a train so only had time for a (nice) half but will return if back in the town.

The Drummers Arms is a new micropub set in a prime position directly across from Blackburn Town Hall.The pub opened last Saturday by owners James and Katy Quale who run a pop up bar company for events and festivals.The pub is only one room but is quite spacious and much larger than the outer façade suggests.
There are 5 rotating local casks to opt for all reasonably priced at £2.50p a pint (The Knocked Up Porter from the 3 B's Brewery was spot on)and a decent arrangement of seats plus a couple of unusual bench seats.There is a modest amount of pub memorabilia including 3 full sized pub signs on the wall.
The pub opens at 12 noon and on Sundays there is an open mic session for local budding artists.Quite impressed with this one which and brings a breath of fresh air to Blackburn's declining pub scene.
