Best of the three "micropubs" in Heanor. Six hand pumps and another turned round. The landlord was very friendly and chatty and actually came from Hunmanby. Definitely worth a revisit - in fact we did so later in the day.

A much smaller pub than its neighbour, the Redemption Alehouse, and fitting better with everyone's idea of what a micropub should look like. I don't know whether there's an overlap in their respective customer bases, but the beer offerings seemed fairly similar to me (see photos) and about the same price too at £1.50 for a half. The owner was happy to chat as it wasn't very busy at the time of my visit. If this place were mine, I would hope to come up with a better name, preferably one without the negative connotation of "angry"; that's not enough to put me off coming back another time, though.

The front of the pub was very busy on our Saturday afternoon visit. Luckily enough there was a small back room with a couple of settees, so we managered to a get a seat, as standing at the bar was out of the question and the couple of bar stools along a short counter, between both rooms were also taken. 5 ales served from handpump along the bar. Falstaff Roswell and the Abstract Brewery Pride were both excellent.

The Angry Bee is a micro pub that has only been open for a couple of months.
Once inside there is a small square shaped room with a proper bar to the rear, there is a wood floor and the seating is bench type and some normal tables and chairs.
There were five hand pumps on the bar and all in use,i had a drink of Aurora Lightshow which was a really nice drink and from a new brewery in Ilkeston, the other real ales were Great heck Mount Hood,Wentwell Farmhand bitter, plus two more i failed to read my notes of.
There was a choice of cobs on the bar.
The landlord was very friendly and i had a good chat with him,the pub was also filling up during my Friday afternoon visit.
I really liked this micro pub.
