A modern cafe-bar in historic arches on the seafront, with regular live music. There are a few pavement tables out the front. A couple of beers on keg with a solitary handpump, which was unfortunately off at time of visit. Connects through to an arts centre in the buildings above and behind.

The open plan interior of St Mary in the Castle has the feel of a community centre, which isn’t surprising as this is a charitable trust. During my visit on Friday afternoon last week there were four other customers in attendance. Their preference was tea and coffee rather than the available beers. These beers consisted of three premium keg options alongside Sharp’s Doom bar. A selection of bottled craft beer was also available.
Various events are held here. At the present time there is a Bayeux Tapestry recreation exhibition in progress. I found the service to be polite, but I do not envisage a return visit.
