I’d walked past this one earlier in the day when it was closed and had the shutters down and thought it didn’t look much, but my judgement could have been influenced by the fact that St Petersgate isn’t the most salubrious of the areas of Stockport.
Back a few hours later to find it being well patronised on this Friday lunchtime and a lot more welcoming inside than the street outside. A good layout spread over two floors so yes a small pub is a more accurate description that micro pub and a good collection of six ales on the go as described below. I went for the Hawkshead Windermere Pale and very good it was too. For the record I can confirm that Wild Horse Palomino, Mad Hatter Penny Lane, Hawkshead Tonka and Hofbrau Original were the four keg offerings available. And I can also confirm the pork pies were top notch as well. This is a fine example of a modern bar and another good addition to the Stockport drinking scene during the last couple of years.

A family run micro pub, where you can expect a decent welcome anytime. I found this to be a comfortable pub and apart from a good range of cask ale, across six pumps, they also had a good range of canned and bottled beers, displayed in the fridges behind the bar. There was also a choice of four keg beers. The pork pies go down a storm in here, made locally at a butchers shop. The choice of words for the wifi was "i love beer" very apt for the PuG crawl. I went for the Northern Monkey Sheephouse and the Rat Brewery Lemony IPA. I had a taster of the Tickety Brew BBQ, which was in good shape, but not to my taste, as it was like BBQ flavoured crisps.

A modern micro pub in a non descript former shop unit,I was impressed by the offering .There is an upstairs seating with some sofas but this felt like an overflow area. The ground floor has some bench seating opposite the bar and a few tables to the front but the PuG crawl didn't dominte a decent sized area. There are 6 handpumps offering on my trip Tickety Brew BBQ,Thirst Class Hopfordian IPA,Northern Monkey Sheephouse,Rat Hai Karate and a very decent Hawkshead Windermere Pale .There was a good mix of strengths from several Locales and this was augmented by some craft keg taps.My pork pie was outstanding, with a thin crust and lots of pork flavours.
I liked this pub and its yet another Stockport boozer that I would spend a lot more time in on my next visit.

A decent little pub. There is also an upstairs which makes it on the large size for a micro but that's just nitpicking I suppose. 6 handpumps on the bar with beers from Northern Monkey, Hawkshead, Ticketybrew, Rat and Thirst Class on on my Friday afternoon visit. A very red and white interior is probably not for those of you with a bitter blue persuasion. Its a good little place.

A rather larger than normal micropub close by the local JDW. There's quite a lot of seating at the front and at the side of the bar and the bar counter is rather larger than usual as well. It's definitely more of a small pub rather than a micro. However it still has the feel of a micro. Two guys behind the bar, one of whom was very chatty as they weren't that busy on my Friday, early evening visit. 5 cask ales available plus a real cider and I tried two beers from Ticketybrew as I hadn't had either of them before. I'm not the biggest fan of the brewery, but both my beers were in very good nick. I'll be visiting here every time I visit Stockport now.

A micropub or bar (it's actually a decent size) with six hand pumps and some craft kegs. It's a long and spacious room with the bar counter on the left and some more seating upstairs. Ciders are available on hand pump and from polypins. I did make a note of the five beers available, but my notes are difficult to transcribe, and anyway a subsequent visit found five different beers on. I was very impressed on the second occasion by Lancaster Brewery's English Pale Ale, and wished I could have stopped for more. This pub is an easy five minutes from the station (for me on my bike) so is perfect for that awkward half hour between trains.

A single room micro formerly a bookies shop, it opened in late September 2016. It is in the more minimalist style of micro pub with tables and chairs down one side and the counter down the other, although a micro it has a fair sized floor area and there is an upstairs room as well. Six pulls with well kept local beers on, it also has cider boxes plus wines and spirits. It's a decent place and hopefully will survive as it's a bit off of the Market Place area.
