Not technically a micro if you consult the Hillier rulebook as there is piped music and keg beer but, in practical terms, it is. A single square room with a slight industrial theme; tiled floor, olive green walls. The etched cogs in wood hanging from the ceiling caught my eye. Four cask beers from micros in oversized glasses, my Allendale Wagtail was in good nick if not exactly a quality brew (a disappointment as I have had excellent beer from them previously). 10 ciders, 25 gins, Tiny Rebel on keg along with San Miguel and Strongbow Fruits (how craft!). Perhaps my favourite purchasable items were the many different flavours of scratchings; the hot chilli ones even came in a Special Bag. Dirt cheap prices, barely over a tenner for two pints, a coke and 2x pork scratchings. Sunday quiz also. It’s a micro that serves all-comers, and we enjoyed our stay in here.

Very popular micro pub with comfortable seating and a decent range of ales. They also have a good cider and gin selection. Beers available from Navigation, Tiny Rebel and 2 from Beermats breweries, and we enjoyed our Navigation Black IPA.

This micro had a decent laidback atmosphere with a good choice of ales and plenty of comfortable seating. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and certainly knew their beers. Six ales on our visit which were served on handpump and a couple straight from the cask, from the glass fronted cellar, behind the bar. The beer line up on our visit, was Chatsworth Gold, Black Country Ales Pig on the Wall, Little Critters Nutty Ambassador, Fullers Southern Star, Wantsum Dynamo and Grasshopper Nymph. We went for the Chatsworth Gold and had a taster of the Nutty Ambassador, which was a hazelnut milk stout, no mistaking the taste of hazelnuts, I have to say. Carved teak panels suspended from the ceiling to soak up noise levels was an unusual feature in here.
