Ian Mapp left this review about Parkerville

A very blokey Micropub on our visit with a rumbustious atmosphere of tomfoolery and revellery that can only happen with the Auchentoshan is out at 7pm on a Wednesday.

Beers are gravity fed. A no from me.

Nice looking live music/comedy room at the rear.

My third micropub of the day has been well described by previous reviewers. More like a regular bar, with the exception of having no hand pumps on the bar, cask beers being poured in and brought out from the cold room. The room to the rear has a stage for bands, which again is not typical of the micropub genre. The owner, more typically, was happy chatting to her customers and I was made to feel very welcome.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Parkerville

With two small rooms, this is really more of a mini-pub than a micro one, but the furniture, decor, pump-less counter and general ambience are all very much of the genre. The real ales are kept on stillage in a cool-room behind the compact counter, where a decent selection of boxed ciders is also kept. Selection of four cask beers in a selection of styles, and I went for a very pleasant pale ale (which may have been River Cottage from Skinner's, £3.40). Also offers a wide choice of different gins.

Oh dear we forgot to take a photo. This micro has a large double glass frontage with a central door entrance and timberwork painted in red. The interior has some front seating on the right hand side and a small stage featuring an upright piano and guitar. The bar was made up from rustic pine timber with a polished pine counter. There was also a turquoise painted feature wall over on the bar side wall.
Four ales on stillage served from behind the bar, Sharps Sea Fury, Adnams Mosaic, St Austell Tribute and Goody's Good Health, so we went for the Adnams. The majority of the drinkers on our Saturday afternoon were drinking gin and white wine and were loud and annoying, so we didn't spend much time in here. Not really an ale drinkers haunt.

Herne Bay's newest micropub opened in Summer 2016 and is on the larger size as these places go. It was a music shop and inside is a well modernised room with a few square tables and low seating. There is a bar counter at the rear with the cold room to the right of it and behind that is a smaller room with more low seating. They also do a small range of non-mainstream gins here. On the left as you enter is a small stage with a piano. The piano has a candelabra on it which made me wonder if they employ the services of a Necromancer to summon Liberace from the grave. There are two toilets at the rear labelled Parkers and Penelopes.
Four beers were on Gadd's No 7, Oakham Inferno, Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde Mild and Goody's Shepherds Rest. I went for the Gadd's (£3.00) and Shepherds Rest (£3.20). Both were in good nick but the Goody's one was a rather sweet Xmas beer.
This one is a contrast to other town micropubs, it's bigger and more modern & clean cut which will suit some more than others. I thought it was good.
