Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Town Street Tap

Unbranded, but seemingly the outlet for the local Tollgate Brewery? Anyway, this is an example of the more modern style of micro-pub, with smart furniture and decor in the partly opened-out layout of two small rooms. No counter, so irrespective of Covid-19, all is table service. When I visited, a pair of the owner's real ales were available - Duffield Amber and Old Rasputin (£3.25) - plus Beartown Skinfull and Flagship Vandal, together with their keg Happ and LA Steam.

One room with no bar - prompt service from the staff only! The barrels were at the rear which I spotted when I visited the toilet. The ales were listed on a beam in the middle of the room. Worth a revisit.

Will Larter left this review about The Town Street Tap

Having missed an opportunity for a drink here a few weeks before, when I passed through Duffield some hours before opening time, a quick look at the bus timetable when in Darley Abbey showed me a window of opportunity. The next bus going to Belper would drop me off near the pub some 13 minutes before the next one going south would take me back to Derby. So this review is based on the briefest of acquaintances, but I must say I was quietly impressed. As both Alan and Ray have observed, this is a pub without a bar counter, the beers and ciders being listed on blackboards on both sides of a beam across the middle of the shop. Service was very prompt and the beer was in delightful condition. The cold room where the beers are stillaged is visible when following the signs to the toilet, and there were clearly a lot of beers waiting to come on (with, I think, four or five listed as available). There's a real fire and a friendly sort of atmosphere - there were about 10 other drinkers already here when I arrived 10 minutes after opening time. For those who like that sort of thing, there were pork pies and scotch eggs available, and bowls of water for canine companions. Obviously a well used and well loved pub. I'll be back for a more leisurely visit.

Tollgate brewery's second micropub venture, the first one is in Ashby de la Zouch. The interior is modern and has the same colour scheme as the Tap at No 76 in Ashby, which is dark greys and orange. The pub was busy on our Saturday eve visit and we managed to get a table in the corner, where another couple joined us, so a conversation soon stuck up.
We didn't spend long on this visit as the beer choice was all APA's and one dark beer, which is fine on other occasions, but I wanted something light and hoppy.
As Alan mentions below, there is no bar, so we were met by one of the staff on arrival, taken through the choice of five ales and then told we will bring the beer over to you. We went for the Vog Brewery Barry Speak Easy, a 4.6% APA, which after a good afternoon's crawl around the locality, was slightly overbearing for me.

The Town Street Tap is Duffield's new micro pub.
Once inside there is a smallish oblong shaped room which runs the width of the pub, there is no bar in this pub,so table service only, the floor is bare boarded, the seating is bench seating and chairs to the right and some tall tables and stools to the left.
There were four real ales on,i had a drink of Magpie Hoppily Ever After, which was an average drink, the other beers noted were Stratford Mosaic,Great Heck Navigator and one more i failed to read my notes of.
I did'nt really take to this micro because it had no bar.
