Basic small bar of a hotel, geared towards taking on the walkers doing the WHW. Quite basic and probably hasn’t seen much change since the 60’s - lino floor, burnt orange leather banquettes, a couple of maps, a smattering of objects d'art and that's about it. No ale and little of interest on keg, so a bottle of Belhaven 80/- sufficed. Service was a mixture of terse and confused. Ate here for lunch and the basic sandwich-based food was fine.
