Nick Davies left this review about The Strawberry Bank

No, not rhyming slang but as JAQPTIO says a hotel and conference centre which presumably exists thanks to proximity to the airport. And as he describes there are a number of areas, furnished with the usual selection of high tables, huge sofas and other inappropriate furniture beloved of pub designers. Gastric-grey paint is splashed here and there, and menus devoid of pound signs and decimal points tick more wrong boxes. Looks like there's a nice garden out the back but the monsoon conditions precluded exploration.

Outside a Doom Bar sign instilled a sense of, well doom, but we bravely carried on only to find the two sorts of Doom Bar situation remains. They must like the stuff round here, as that's what you get in the hotel across the way too. We stuck to eurofizz.

Meriden is not a destination village for pub-goers, you can do much better within a few miles.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Strawberry Bank

Multi-purpose venue with a pub, restaurant, function room, accommodation, etc. However, the layout is confusing and the bar counter small (with limited space for staff who were 'just about managing' in the face of quite a queue). Apart from that, the various seating / dining areas are tidy (if anonymous) but there is a large, nautically themed beer garden at the rear (which is odd, since you are famously as far away from the sea as anywhere in England in this village). The Doom Bar branding leads to the two real ales on handpump: a 'choice' between the regular (£3.80) and the 'extra cool' versions.
