One of those sorts of Manchester places ROBCamra drags you into when you’re too drunk to know. It’s a cellar bar opposite the Gaslamp, another cellar bar but which is easier to find due to its big sign. Modern blonde wood tables with comfortable and matching chairs and with bench seating down both sides. The counter is behind you to the right after coming downstairs, five pulls of neat interesting beers plus decent kegs on a solo and four way T-bar. Plenty of arty pictures on one wall, the other has a panorama of Manchester from afar, otherwise pumpclips as artifacts and bloody fairy lights. Friendly staff and it’s a GBG2020 pub, well worth a visit.

Good beer guide 2019 entry.

Cellar bar, very much like the Gas Lamp over the road.

Everything is source from 30 miles of Manchester - from the beers to the excellent music at a decent level.

Enjoyable visit with a friendly owner.

A small basement bar, packed to the point of being uncomfortable on a Friday evening. With five handpumps for ale, there is a Locale policy here,I chose Rammy Craft Titch which was fine, I can see this is a decent bar but really was too busy to fully appreciate on my visit.

Didn't last too long in here as the place was mobbed on our Friday Eve visit, so noise levels and logistics were quite overbearing. In spite of it being busy, the service at the bar was incredibly fast and efficient. Five ales on handpump, so we went for the Brightside B-Side, which was good. The main feature in here was the logo, the Bumble Bee, which was depicted all around the walls when entering the descending stairwell to the bar and lounge area.

Even busier on Friday afterwork and much smaller than Gaslamp over the road, this cellar bar is a bit claustrophobic and noisy but does have the advantage of great Locale real ale. There is long bench seating on both sides and a drinking shelf at the rear with 5 handpumps offering on my trip Brightside B side,Rammy Craft Titch,Mallinson's DOH 5.0 and Marble Uppe Hela Natten stout (top quality).
If crowds bother you, choose a quiet time .It's a lively spot and more attractive than Gaslamp and I would call in again.Include both bars on any real ale crawl .

Visited last Friday afternoon. There were a few people in at the time of my arrival but it started to quieten down as the lunch time crowd dispersed. No issues getting a seat anyway.

Five hand pumps at the bar and all were on. I had a Black Edge Stout which set me back £1.60 for a half, which I considered to be quite reasonable. This was served in a nice fancy glass. I later had a half of The Rip by Track, a gorgeous IPA if on the strong side at 6.1%. This was a bit more expensive at £5 a pint or £2.50 for a half, but very pleasant indeed.

Snacks are available in the form of scotch eggs from Beehive Food.

There is a massive landscape cityscape photo of the Manchester area and various other pictures of local scenes adorn the walls. Pump clips decorate the beam running across the ceiling. I did notice a slightly sweaty smell to the place at first as if there wasn't quite enough ventilation. I have been in a couple of times before and never noticed this. It either disappeared, or perhaps the people causing it disappeared, or perhaps I got used to it, but either way I didn't notice it later on so no big deal.

A great place, and I look forward to returning soon.

Best pub of the day so far. 10 ales either on tap or keg. I had Squawk which was an IPA from New Zealand and was on fine form. There was one hell of a photo of Manchester (I think) on one wall. I've no idea where it was taken from. Well worth a revisit.

A small cellar bar and a pretty good one. A single room and a quite pleasant one. Its a well kept place with comfortable enough seating which was banquettes and chairs. There are 5 handpumps (all which were serving different ales) plus a few crafty beer fonts. A friendly barperson and customers made for a pleasant enough afternoon drink.

This is a small cellar bar, rather than a micropub although it is very small. It sells lager and wine etc and has background music playing, so doesn't really qualify as a micropub, There's a long cityscape of the Manchester skyline along one wall, but no other decoration. 5 handpumps with 4 beers available on my visit. I was served a pint of "Manchester Murky" without being warned that it was cloudy. It was from Drink Up brewery though who have a history of this sort of lazy brewing crime. It's easy to get the beer much clearer without using finings according to the many brewers who come and do a "Meet The Brewer" with us. Drink Up won't be getting an invite anytime soon. I quite like this place and have called in a couple more times since my first visit.
