Our final pub of 18 on a brief trip to the North East of England and once again, we'd saved the best for last.

Located on a main road and on the Newcastle to Hexham bus route, this is a great local micropub that was almost full on our Thursday evening visit. We got a few stares when we walked in. But everybody seemed friendly, including the helpful and knowledgeable barman. I'm not sure if he was the owner or not.

3 real ales were on - Great North Eastern Rivet Catcher & Trinity & George Samuel Terminus. For real cider fans, this is as good as it gets in Northumberland. Indeed, it has just won the Northumberland CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year award. All ciders were in boxes in a fridge to the side of the bar and all were either from Farmer Jims or Snail's Bank. Farmer Jims ciders were Rhubarb Bob, Apple Red, Rootin' Tootin' & Farmyard Perry, with Raspberry Ripple, Peach Melba, Parma Violet, Apple Hog, Blood Orange & Orchard Dry from Snail's Bank.

Well worth venturing out to.

This was a former amusement arcade, now turned into a good sized micro pub. The interior is carpeted throughout and the walls were painted blue with green coloured low slung upholstered seats, which were very comfortable. The bar area was small in comparison to the size of the room, which was located in the far left hand corner. Five pumps with four in use, Wylam Red Kite, Black Hill Tilley, George Samuel Brewing Co. Tower Bitter and Old Potting Shed Brewery Swanee River. We went for the Swanee River brewed in High Spen. The owner/manageress was friendly and welcoming and brought us bowls of Cheesy Wotsits and Bombay Mix.
