Arrived around 12-30pm and already the crowd was noisy and boisterous with even the barmaid throwing in a few f,s and jeffs. While i was sat there near the exit one of Al Bundy's quotes came to mind "Would not like to be in at night-time when all the serious d--kheads have taken over"
Avoid this one

I googled the Cedar Lounge today and found out it used to be at 49 South Vennel, which I see where Miss D's is now. Also I see the entry for Port Vaults & Vennel is still listed as open at 118 High Street.

The premises here lay empty for some years since its previous incarnation, "The Vennel," closed, but have now re-opened as "Miss D's." The bar staff and regular customers seem to have migrated here from the adjacent and now closed "Port Vaults and Vennel," which was formerly just "The Port Vaults," prior to the two being amalgamated when "The Vennel" closed. I assume, therefore, that they come under the same ownership. The layout of the new pub hasn't changed since it was "The Vennel," although it has been considerably refurbished. It consists of one, square, brightly lit room, with two TVs, a juke box and games machines. There is also a pool table in a side room. The ceiling beams are painted with alcohol related quotations such as "What the sober man thinks, the drunkard tells," although these might have just been made up for the purpose, as I hadn't heard any of them before. On draught are Guinness (at £3.30 a pint), McEwan's Export, Belhaven Light, Budweiser, Birra Moretti and Carling lagers and Strongbow cider.
