Graham Coombs left this review about The Mallard

A Hungry Horse restaurant in the end of the Frenchgate shopping centre in the walkway through from the station, which is very handy if it is raining! The family dining side is off to the left with the right hand side of the bar more of a traditional pub area, with a couple of screens showing sport. Ales are mainly from the Greene King range but often with a guest, and condition seemed good (Cask Marque accredited). There is an outdoor terrace at the back.

Alex Conway left this review about The Mallard

A shopping center eating pub that is part of the food court complex for families wanting a bite to eat while out shopping, all very corporate but does have a fully stocked bar and attracted casual drinkers as well. Ont the bar were five hand pulls with Greene king IPA being permanent and Hardy and Hansons bitter and Abbeydale Moonshine repeated. I had a pint of the Moonshine and must say it was kept in superb condition and reasonably priced at £2.39. Overall the experience was better that expected and I would call again for a beer if ever stranded in the shopping center for a short enough time that I couldn't walk to a better pub.

As you come out of Doncaster station ,take the escalator up to the Frenchgate shopping centre and The Mallard is the first unit you come to.Branded as a Hungry Horse,it's modern and faceless with standard furniture and a corporate menu.At the bar there are three handpumps offering GK IPA and Ruddles Best while a third "guest ale" pump had a clip reversed. It's only merit is that it is close to the station if you are desperate for a very poor GK brew,I would always make more of an effort to find a decent pint elsewhere.
