Real Ale Ray left this review about Tapster's Promise

We brought the owner's pal along with us after meeting him in the New Brew'm micro in Burnley, so straight away there was a bit of banter carrying on when we arrived between the two of them. There were two ales on handpump Squawk Brewery pale ale and Doghouse UPA (ultra pale ale) plus four on keg. This premises used to be a bookmakers and previous to that a porn shop. The interior consisted of a small bar area in the back right hand corner. Seating was high back red leatherette banquette seating down the right hand wall and the opposite wall had low tables and chairs. The chairs also looked as though they had been reclaimed from a local school. There was a dark timber floor and the walls and ceiling was marine ply painted in a dark purple colour.

This seemed to be the crafty one of the three micropubs. Inside it's a rectangular room that looks half finished as much of the walls and ceiling is unpainted chipboard. There are some paintings on the wall that reminded me of the ones in Premier Inn rooms only different colours. Along with bare hanging lights and the usual minimal micropub furniture it all seemed a bit spartan. There is a large TV on one wall which the landlord swiftly switched off when I arrived.
There are three hand pumps and several keg taps that I didn't investigate and they also do a few real ciders. Only two of the hand pumps were on with local breweries of which I'd never heard. The beers were Northern Whisper Offenchops and Wishbone Pastiche both £2.90 and both excellent. The Pastiche one was an unfined beer but was hazy rather than a murk.
Despite the limited cask choice I liked this one.

This had a better selection of ales than Cask & Keg - I had Beavertown @ 5.5% ABV. Shut Monday, 4pm to 9pm Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4pm to 11pm Thursdays, 2pm to 12pm Fridays, 1pm to 12pm Saturdays and 2pm to 11pm Sundays.
