Pub SignMan left this review about Mumbles Carlton Hotel

The Mumbles Carlton (not to be confused with the Ritz Carlton), is a family run hotel on the seafront with a bar open to member of the public. Like many hotel bars the world over, the place has a bit of a sterile feel to it and I only decided to call in because so many of the traditional Mumbles pubs have closed and I needed to pad my crawl out a bit. You enter into the small lobby area, with a door into the bar on the left hand side. A curved bare brick counter runs along the rear wall and has a partly mirrored bar back with a few nautical themed photos and old barometers on show. There are a couple of tables opposite, with the vast majority of the seating actually on a raised section to the left, partly in darkness on this evening visit and possibly where the guests take their breakfasts. The remainder of the lower bar area has high tables and stools on bare floorboards with a large map of the Bristol Channel dominating the right hand wall. The room has been brightened a little by the addition of a lot of greenery and each table had a flower in a jar on top. There was a single slot machine in one corner but no music or TV screens as far as I could tell.
Sadly there was no ale either, with one lone handpull left unclipped. Guinness and Worthington Cream Flow were on keg and the friendly barman called out to me across the rom to check my Guinness was okay, having apparently not poured any that day (it was fine).
This wasn't a particularly worthy addition to the crawl along the Mumbles Mile, but I did at least find the service friendly and can imagine the place would be nice to stay in, even if that means heading elsewhere to have a drink.
