Steve C left this review about Banyan

Banyan is a split-level bar and restaurant in part of the old Corn Exchange building. The bar counter up the left supports premium and craft keg, half a Peroni was £3.35. There service was very polite, but there was some boring modern dance music playing and the shrill noise from some over exited young ladies wasn’t very pleasant. It was only a quarter full, it must be hellish in here at the weekend.

Again, little to say. At least I got served quickly and was ushered out with a smile.

ROB Camra left this review about Banyan Bar & Kitchen

A pretty featureless bar on two levels within the Corn Exchange. The upper area is mainly a restaurant and the downstairs mainly a bar. No real ale, but there are a couple of craft keg pumps. The barstaff were totally useless. Three staff on the bar, just two of us waiting to be served and it still took ages. "Are you waiting to be served sir?" "No I thought I'd just stand at this bar and see how long it took you to stop chatting with one of the other barstaff and do the job you're paid for". When you get an incomprehending look, you know you're in trouble. It was a total rip off as well. Give it a miss.
