Brainy Pool left this review about The Barrel House

tiny bar on upmarket suburban high street - think cafe bars, artisan cheese shops and estate agents. The beer is good from the two handpumps and the outdoor area a nice spot to breathe in main road car fumes. In my time outside here I saw beer, cider, buckets of champagne, wine, coffee and lots of cheese, it’s a trendy bar but anyone is equally welcome.

As noted this is indeed a small single roomed micropub. The 2 beers on handpump today were Titanic Plum Porter and Martland Mill Clogmaker. It is a pleasant little place.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Barrel House

This former newsagents micro pub is only a short walk from the train station and is well worth a visit. The pub consists of one room with a small bar along the facing wall as you enter. The bar front was made up of numerous sculptured cut pieces of timber glued onto the front to form a concentric pattern. This display was also used over on the wall left of the main entrance. There was also a large bottle cooler along the left hand wall with a wide and varied collection of bottled beers. The centre of the room hosted a chandelier and there was a wallpapered feature wall.
Two handpumps on our visit, so we went for the Cross Bay Halo and the other ale was Southport Sandgrounder. There was also a decent sized seating area out front and a few of their customers were popping in for a tea or a coffee and enjoying the sun.
