One room with bar to the right. Decent selection of real ales but nothing over 4.9% ABV. Worth a revisit to see if that changes.

A rather good micropub with a traditional alehouse feel. It’s a single room with dark laminate flooring, pump clips over the walls, bench seating and a bone shaker bike strung above the window. Was pleased to make use of a dedicated phone charging point, guided to by the friendly young barmaid. Six ciders and five ales on from mainly local micros. Rudgate Chocolate Stout and Half Moon Dark Masquerade were sampled by me and both were in good shape. Busy, with lots of atmosphere and a really nice vibe, so-much-so that I broke my ‘one half and off’ rule for the trip and stayed for a second. Worth a seeking-out for a special visit. 8.5

This is a micropub which now also has a microbrewery associated with it. Inside it's a fairly typical size room but with no tall furniture apart from a few bar stools and a very friendly landlady. It was fairly busy on my Friday afternoon visit.
The small bar has six hand pumps which had Great Heck Proverbs & Amish Mash, Double Top Golden Arrow & Nelson, Butchers Dog Black Spot Stout and Isaac Poad 84 IPA. I went for the Proverbs (£3.20) which was in good nick and good value for a 6% beer and would have been even better if I had noted the CAMRA discount.
This one is definitely worth a look.

The first thing you will notice on a approach to the Butchers Dog is the old bicycle in the front window covered in pump clips. Already a collection of clips was starting to build along the bar walls and ceiling. The interior consisted of one room with dark red painted woodwork. The bar was situated in the far right hand corner and is finished in a dark stained pine. The counter had turned columns along its length supporting a pot shelf.
Seating was a mix of small round tables and low stools and old church pews. There were four ales on the bar on our visit, three from Brass Castle and one of their own brews named Experimental IPA, which was very good. We also went for the Brass Castle Cliffhanger and Snoweater, which were both in great shape.
