Clive Thompson left this review about Red Squirrel Brewery Shop

I happened across this place whilst walking in the area - honestly I did. If I'd set out to find it on foot I probably wouldn't have bothered. It is quite remote, and also still a bit of a walk from the sign at the end of the lane where it is located. But I'm glad I made it, there's nothing like drinking fresh beer at the source. Good beer and good views of the countryside. Now known as Mad Squirrel after a re-branding in 2017.

The beer shop is only open during normal office opening hours Monday-Saturday,and you enter into the brewery offices ,one of the office staff will serve you in the small rectangular bottle room which has a long bench, small bar, flatscreen (off during my visit) and a glass pane giving a view into the brewery. The building itself is non descript and part of a series of small business units in an industrial park, formerly farm buildings.
There are three handpumps, only two working on my visit drawing house Redtail Citra and Mr Squirrel, while their Black Lager was on keg.The bottles cover their whole range including their Mad Squirrel sub brand with some quite experimental brews ! Mini 5 litre kegs can be taken away, apparently real ale but possibly bright.
The shop does seem remote with no public transport options and I cant imaging staying here for a session, but if visiting the brewery or buying bottles,it's fine for a sample of their real ale and a chat with the friendly staff.
