The usual arch setup with some very interesting beers on, I had Coffee Beast Mode ,a 4,5% milk stout and Cooler Than Gherkins, a strange but nice Cucumber Saison at 4.7%. On the downside it was plastic glasses and it's a card only payment, a cash free zone! That aside another goodun.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about UBREW

Curious set-up, being a mixture of a small-scale commercial brewery (having just installed a 1000-litre brew plant the day before I visited) and a facility for (mostly semi-commercial) 'home brewers' to try out their skills. Very basic tap room inside a railway arch, with the kit in another next door. Up to ten craft beers on tap, with seven on when I called in. Never heard of any of them, but opted for a quick Seven Sisters Citrus Session Pale (£3.50, half, which is the standard price for all the brews, whatever their strength).

They have tried to create a bar but its ugly brown dull looking and made from ply and reclaimed wood. They had home brewers brewing in the adjoining arch and all in all it was a bit smelly.Few customers and slow sevice didn't help.Expensive Ubrew bottled beer considering they have cut out the middleman. If Antic did breweries this would be it.

A unique concept on the Beer Mile, or perhaps even in the whole of the UK, UBREW is an open brewery, allowing amateurs and hobbyists to use the on-site brewing kit to create their own beers on site and then sell them to the public at the bar. It's a great idea from the point of view of the amateur brewer, but perhaps a little more fraught with danger for the customer. Occupying yet another corrugated iron-clad railway arch (you'll be sick of the sight of them by the time you get this far along the crawl), the whole front section is full of small scale brewing equipment and dithering, semi-competent, wannabe brewers. The equipment is strewn all over the place, so be careful you don't tread on anything important as you make your way to the servery at the back of the arch. The wooden plank bar has a few beer adverts dotted around it, a blackboard to one side listing the available home brews and a table with some beer literature including copies of Original Gravity and a rather flashy publication called Hop and Barley, which was worth a thumb through. Music was playing and I spotted some jars of hops which were arranged for you to smell, perhaps to gauge the potential aroma of your prospective brew. However, this was off-set somewhat by the powerful stench of the mash which overwhelmed the place and forced most customers out to the nicely constructed outdoors seating space.
There were four home brew beers available when I arrived (weakest 5.5%) plus Orchard Pig cider. I sampled a beer called Ghostrider Kolsch (£3.50 for two thirds at 5.6%), which was pretty good although it died a bit towards the end. The beers seemed overpriced for untested home brews, but I was content to pay up on this one-off visit. Although keg only at the time of visit, there are some sketchy plans to introduce cask ale in the future.
I liked the concept of this place much more than I liked the reality of it. I suspect I may have got lucky with my beer choice and that there are doubtless plenty of clunkers that get put on. The off-putting smell and lack of indoor comfort doesn't do the place too many favours either. If you're going to drop one place from your Beer Mile crawl, this is probably the one to miss, although it does merit a quick look for its unique selling point.
Open 12:00 - 19:00 Tue, Wed, Sat, Sun and 12:00 - 23:00 Thur, Fri. Closed Monday.
