An eclectic micropub in a former shop unit, the large plate glass windows at the front bring in a lot of natural sunlight to an open plan interior with a mix of furniture, some traditional, some red leather sofas and comfy chairs. The small bar on the left offers beers from the LAMB brewery,so this pub acts as their tap.The muzak is also eclectic and enjoyable and there is a mix of age groups who use this place, the friendly young barman joined in a game of dominoes with some older punters. The internal decor is quite dark but flex lighting helps, the loos are up a long stasircase. There is even a darts board tucked into a rear corner.
On my trip the three ale choices were LAMB Bitter,Pale and a house Speakeasy Cream Ale (NBSS 4.5,very enjoyable) Maybe not an ale range as wide as the leading real ale venues in town but well worth stopping for the one or maybe two !

A new bar that has taken over the old Soundbar premises, it’s very much changed from those days. There’s a dark area beyond the now sideways counter, three beers from Lamb of Littondale including a specially brewed house beer which won first prize at the Skipton Beer Festival. There’s also a usual suspects T-Bar and a Moretti solo. Tongue and groove down the side, there’s a mix of seating with quite posh chairs, a sofa and bar stools. The décor would be described as eclectic. Toilets are upstairs.

A novel little place. This bar is set in a record shop with the bar to the rear and vinyl records and cds for sale surround you. 2 handpumps on the bar with beers from Baildon on today. The walls are plastered with lp covers. There is a 'DJ' who plays records from the little counter to the right. Sadly it was awfully dull Pink Floyd nonsense on my visit. I did ask for Half Man Half Biscuit but it was not to be. A good place and I liked it, apart from falling asleep whilst Shine On You Boring Diamond was being played.

Two hand pumps - couldn't see the strengths but enjoyed the copious amounts of vinyl records on the walls - brought back some memories.

A review from my visit in July 2016.

It would be rude not to visit all 4 of the Skipton micro pubs while staying here for 2 nights, so mid afternoon on Thursday the wife and I made our way to the Skipton Sound Bar.

As stated by another reviewer, this is a record shop with a dj playing all types of music, the small bar at the back of the shop has 2 hand pumps & a selection of bottled ales. One hand pump had Ilkley Pale on while the other had Wensleydales' Sound Ale @ 4.1% which was my choice. £3.20 a pint here, Early Doors is 60p a pint cheaper than this and the other micros in town.

A good mix of punters during our 30 minutes stay, good music playing and well kept ale...what a cracking idea for a Micropub...superb in my book and worthy of a visit

Mostly a record shop with a small counter housing two pulls at the back with an own labelled beer and a guest from Small World. There's a few tables and drinking shelves among the vinyl for sale. Live music on Sundays and a music quiz too. A neat twist to the micro-pub theme and totally unlike the Record Cafe in Bradford which may or may not have been the inspiration, I think not as the guy running it is just a beer and music aficionado and combining the two things very well.

Two lovely ales on during my two visits - Yorkshire Farmer and Wensleydale's Sound Bar Ale. Music played is good and it was nice to wander in and listen to an excellent fella playing his guitar and singing. Cracking little bar with lots of atmosphere. And I bought a CD from here too! Loved it.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Skipton Sound Bar

The Sound Bar opened only within a few months of the Record Café in central Bradford, coincidence or what? The chap in Bradford doesn't think so, as they have even made the same lamp shades out of old 7" vinyl records. The biggest difference in my opinion is that the Sound Bar is like walking into a record shop. There where records, CD's and old cassettes for sale everywhere.
There was record decks set up in the middle of the shop on the right hand wall, which were in use playing a good variation of music.
The bar was set up at the back of the shop and had a choice of two ales on handpump, which were Wensleydale and one from Kirkstall. We went for the Kirkstall 3 Swords, which was in good shape. The bar also contained a selection of board games and there where various instruments hanging from the ceiling.
