Velvet Jacks is a small café/bar/pizza restaurant that was comfortably busy when I visited on a recent Friday evening. Tetris has been performed inside to get as much seating in as possible and there are a couple of café tables with seating on the path out front. The available keg from the bar in the right rear corner was Oranjeboom, Asahi, Shepherd Neame’s Whitstable Bay Pale Ale and Blonde as well as Aspall’s Cider. Cocktails are also advertised two for £10, except on Saturdays. I didn’t note any food prices.
I didn’t spot a television, but there was some background music playing. This bar is closed on Mondays and doesn’t open until 16:00 Tuesday to Friday. There is an earlier opening time of midday on Saturdays and Sundays.
I found the service to be friendly and if passing I would consider popping in to try the pizza, but I wouldn’t head out with the intention of visiting just for a beer.
