Blue Scrumpy left this review about Black Pig Ale Bar

With the Ship Inn now closed, the landlord has rented out the main bar for use as a shop, whilst retaining a barn-like structure at the rear for use as a bar.

You pass through an archway to reach an outdoor courtyard, along with a large marquee capable of seating dozens of people. The bar itself is an outbuilding on the right-hand side.

Spread over 2 floors, it was quite cold inside. They hadn't long opened when we arrived. But there was a real fire and the welcome was still fairly warm.

Cask ales are served by gravity from behind the bar. However, the choice did seem to be very mainstream, with just Tribute & London Pride on offer. Instead, I opted for the Thatcher's Stan's Traditional cider from a box also behind the bar. In addition, Weston's Rosie's Pig was also on.

A strange place, that I quite liked and could be much better with a more imaginative ale range.
