This place is so far up its own arse it hurts. Called in last week and tried to head to the bar on the left. We were stopped by 3, yes 3, staff members. who told us that the downstairs bar is closed and we'd have to go upstairs where we could order a beer on their app!!

I explained that we didn't have their app, didn't want their app and didn't have a phone between us that could have downloaded it anyway. We were told that in that case they couldn't serve us. I pointed out that this was discrimination. The chief numpty just shrugged.

Why are some pub owners so dumb to still be doing this. It wasn't as if it was busy with only about 6 punters in.

My missus/girlfriend/bit on the side thought they were all stupid and hated it. :-))

We went round the corner to a proper pub with proper beer. Don't go here, go to the Caledonia instead, or across the road to the Roscoe, the Fly or the Dispensary.

Now open and called The Florist. An identical set up as before with the bar to your left. The restaurant bit is upstairs and also to your right. Two fake trees greet you as you enter. The bar is a bright enough place and thin. Real ale has been removed and now you have 3 sets of taps. Apart from the Budweiser taps you'll have to ask what's on the other taps as they are unbranded. Its still a bit steep pricewise and still up its own bottom. Your missus/girlfriend/bit on the side will love it.

New gastropub opened on the site of the Old Blind School hence the name. A large building with the bar on your left as you enter. A restaurant is located directly ahead of you as you enter the building. 3 handpumps for real ale of which 2 were working and serving beers from Tatton Brewery at the time. It is, however, crap. Totally pretentious.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Old Blind School

We called in here one evening during the week and found a lot of dressed up ladies and gents heading to the Philharmonic, popping in for a pre-theatre drink. The interior is very smart as well as being very comfortable. The layout consists of an entrance lobby area, which leads to the restaurant, a lounge on the right and the main bar to the left. The bar had a marble counter top. The walls were undressed brick and had old blown up photos of Liverpool's docks and shipping were displayed around the walls. There were three handpumps on the left hand side of the bar and all were in operation. We went for the Mobberley Brewhouse Whirly Bird, which was excellent, we also tried Chester Brew Brothers Chester Gold. Prices in here were very reasonable and service was A1.
