Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Steel Foundry (JD Wetherspoon)

Newish 'spoons on the ground floor of the Meadowhall food court, and with little natural light in most areas so it is more reminiscent of one of its airport outlets than else. However, the rear section has some large windows and an enclosed beer garden with a view across to the River Don. Duplicated clips on the two banks of six handpumps, with the choice being the inevitable Ruddles / Doom Bar / Abbot trio plus Kelham Island Summer Axe and two from Acorn: Yorkshire Pride and Old Moor porter (£1.99).

The Steel Foundry is a relatively new (mid 2015) shopping centre JDW where the main entrance is within the shopping centre itself.
It's a single shallow room with a small patio at the end. It seemed to have just shoppers and after work folk in on my early Thursday evening visit.
Although there are twelve hand pumps the beer choice was pathetic with two ciders, two available soon and the JDW Trio Of Doom doubled leaving just Saltaire Pride and Elland Beyond the Pale as viable options. I went for the Beyond The Pale which at £2.65 is expensive for this area's JDWs. It was presented to me by the numpty of a barmaid with a head on it over an inch thick. They might get away with that in the Rover's Return but I wasn't having it and asked for it to be topped up.
I also noted that the food is expensive with burgers being £3.50 and £4.50 more than another Sheffield outlet.
I thought this place was hopeless. It may be handy for anyone being forced under extreme duress to visit Meadowhall but you're more likely to see me on the surface of Mars rather than this place or indeed Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

A new 'Spoons in the Oasis quarter of the extensive Meadowhall shopping centre, on the site of, or close to, previous failed bar ventures. The JDW designers have gone to town with an imaginative redevelopment of the space available, including going right to the edge of the shopping centre to create a narrow but pleasant outdoor seating area within earshot of a weir on the River Don.

The interior utilises wood creatively, with a semi-barrel vaulted ceiling a notable feature. Disappointingly, the double banks of six hand pumps feature only one guest ale, Nethergate Mary's Ruby Mild, and one "coming soon", alongside the doubled-up usual suspects (GK Abbot and IPA, and Sharp's Doom Bar), plus one cider and another also "coming soon". We all went for the mild, which was spot on, but a little more choice would not have gone amiss. We spent a pleasant half hour on the terrace outside - luckily it was sunny - I can't imagine coming here when it's raining or in winter: the atmosphere inside was pretty miserable. But then it is called Meadow-HELL for a reason.
